LOCAL TRAVEL:

FREE RESORT SHUTTLE BUS

There is a free shuttle bus between Les Arcs 1800/1600/1950 and 2000. This operates regularly from 0700 to 1930 & later on weekends. Check the timetable at the bus stops or on the Les Arcs website.

FUNICULAR

The Funicular runs from Les Arcs 1600 to Bourg St Maurice every 20 minutes and is free with your Ski pass from 0700 to 1920. The Funicular runs later on weekends. (Check the latest timetable on the Les Arcs website).

FOR THE SLOPES:

SKI SCHOOL

There are a number of Ski schools in Les Arcs including ESF, Arc Adventures (International Ski School), Privalege. You can get group lessons or individual lessons in Skiing and Boarding. Many of my friends have used Arc Adventures and recommended them. Their office is based on the slope front. Group lessons run from Sundays to Friday. You can pre- book lessons or find out more information through their website or you can call. They speak English. There is usually no problem booking lessons on your arrival during off peak weeks however sometimes the schools offer discounts if you pre-book via the website, so it is worth checking out.

SKI PASS

Please see the Les Arcs website for the latest lift pass prices. You can get lift passes with or without insurance. NOTE, if you are a beginner you may not need a full pass for the first few days. Best speak with your ski school before you buy a pass and they can advise.

EQUIPMENT RENTAL

There are a number of shops where you can rent equipment. Prices depend on what type of equipment you rent and duration. NOTE, with most of the shops insurance for your equipment usually covers theft or loss. If you damage equipment other than normal wear and tear you may be asked to pay for the cost of the repair. So watch those rocks if you are playing around off-piste! There is a lot of competition so many shops will offer discounts of 10-20% if you ask. Alternatively it may be cheaper to pre-book your rental. Some offer up to 40-60% discount. Have a look on the web. SkiSet, Ski Rebublic, Arc Adventure, Intersport all have shops in 1800. You will need to tell them where you want to collect your equipment. (Villards, Arc 1800).

FOOD:

SUPERMARKETS

The Supermarket is situated on the main street in Villards. There are also supermarkets in Charvet and in Bourg St Maurice.

RESTAURANTS

The restaurants are all good (But the Chefs do change, so ask me for the lastest recommendations). The restaurants get busy so it is sensible to reserve a table. Most restaurants do sittings at 1900 or 2100 during busy times.

TAKEAWAY FOOD

You can get Takeaway food from the supermarket or there are various Takeway shops in the village.

PARTY!

BARS

Villards, 1800 is the liveliest in Les Arcs for apres Ski.

Bars get busy from after the lifts close. Try out the Vin Chaud. They then get busy again from about 10pm onwards once people have eaten. Most bars are open until 2am.

If you are fed up with hearing English venture to Charvet (5 mins walk). The bars there are more French, JO’s has a live band most nights, gets quite lively and is open until 3 am.

NIGHT CLUBS

There is 1 Nightclub in 1800 situated in Villards just round the corner from the Sherpa supermarket. It doesn’t really get busy until 1am and is open until 4 (So I am told!). Busiest nights often tend to be Saturday, Sunday, Thursday and Friday nights but varies depending on how busy the resort is.

ON DEPARTURE:

CLEANING

I ask visitors to leave my apartments clean and tidy before their departure. (NOTE – I am able to rent out the apartment at a discount to the going agency rate when I rent to friends direct as I do not have to pay an agency fee and cost of the agency cleaning the apartment). If you do not have time to clean apartment or would like for an agency to do this please let me know in advance and I can arrange for apartment cleaning and collection of bedding/towels to be taken to the laundry. Please advise me in advance & I can organise and confirm cleaning and laundry costs. Currently €70 for cleaning + €30 for laundry.

SHEETS

I have bedding, sheets and towels in the apartments. You are welcome to use these, there are a number of laundry shops who will wash and dry sheets at the end of your holiday, however you need to leave approximately 3-4 hours for this. If you are departing early and can’t use the apartment sheets you can either bring your own or they can be rented from a number of shops on arrival. Alternatively as above I can organise for an Agency to clean apartment and collect sheets for the laundry.
